JAMNOLA is a experiential pop-up that is filled with New Orleans culture crafted by over 20 different local artist. Inside you will find 12 different exhibit rooms. Each is different and unique showing everything from film, interactive art perfect for pictures and detailed artwork down to the wallpaper. Everything is art!

They are opening it’s doors to the City of New Orleans officially August 1st.

JAMNOLA was created by Jonny Liss and Chad Smith, two Bywater residents. They teamed up with Where Y’Art to physically create what they are calling their love letter to New Orleans.

Here is a word from one of the founders, Jonny Liss.

The tours take about 1 hour to complete. Make sure you are photo ready as each room will tempt you to pull out that camera.

My thoughts

I had a great time inside. Each room was an entirely different experience. There was music, art everywhere on the walls and even the floors. There was sculptures, interactive activities and learning opportunites. They also have a system that keeps track of every photobooth experience with your personal QR code. After you leave you get a link with all of your photos and videos.

The host were very knowledgeable about the exhibits giving you nice tidbits about what you are seeing. They guide you from room to room and give you time to look around and take pictures before moving on. Don’t forget to shop around the gift shop as well. On my visit I purchased a t-shirt where all proceeds go to “Feed The Second Line”. That initiative supports New Orleans musicians, artists and culture bearers who have been hit hard by COVID-19

Here is a sneak peek at what each room has to offer:

Safety

For those worried about visiting during COVID there are safely precautions put in place. There will be temperature checks before everyone enters the building. There is hand sanitizer in each room. The tours are also limited to either private or semi-private tour with up to 6 people in each group.

The exhibits were also redesigned to be interactive while limiting contact to keep everyone safe.
