How to promote hair growth using oil

 

At some point we all find ourselves wanting to grow our hair longer. Oil is one step that we can use on our journey to growing longer and thicker hair.

Many of us have these oils in our homes already in use for aromatherapy. However, if they are medicinal grade and said to be skin safe on the packaging it may be good for hair growth as well.


Quick note!

When using any essential oils make sure you are diluting them with carrier oil and not applying them directly to your skin. Good carrier oils to use are olive oil, coconut oil, grapeseed oil, sweet almond oil, and jojoba oil.


Amla oil

It has been used in Indian traditional medicine to treat hair and related issues. It is known to help grow long thick hair. It also helps to restore pH levels, remove dandruff and dirt from follicles. Lastly, it is rich in Vitamin C, which also helps to improve hair growth due to it’s antioxidant properties.

Castor Oil

Castor oil is another great oil for hair growth. It also good to use for a dry scalp and some scalp conditions.

Lavender essential oil

It’s properties help the generate cells and reduce stress. It also contains antimicrobial and antibacterial properties that will help to improve the health of your scalp.

Rosemary essential oil

This helps to improve thickness and growth due the way it improves cellular generation.

Cedarwood essential oil

This oil balances the oil-producing glands our our scalp, which in turn helps to reduce and prevent hair loss. It also treats any scalp conditions that my contribute to dandruff or hair loss due to it’s antifungal and antibacterial properties.

The Curly Traveler’s Tip On Applying Oils For Growth

  • Make sure hair is fully detangled

  • Slightly warm oils mixed with a carrier as recommend.

  • Part hair and apply oils directly to the scalp

  • Massage oils into scalp using your fingertips. Be careful to not use your nails to massage scalp.

  • You can choose to put a warm cap over your head to help fully penetrate and then wash your hair.

    • Option 2: You can leave the oils in your hair for a day and then proceed to wash hair.
